About Southwell Engineering
We are an Australian engineering and manufacturing business established in 1945. Our niche market is in the custom design, fabrication, and installation of lifts and hoists.
Since our early days mining and transporting the sand for the construction of the Sydney Harbour bridge, we have evolved into a specialised lifting equipment manufacturer. After the Second World War, Southwell began making large truck cranes, then progressed into elevated work platforms and more recently our focus has been on designing and manufacturing goods hoists to AS1418 part 8. We have never stopped innovating and have completed thousands of projects over the years. We are the leading supplier of goods lifts for the Self Storage industry, as well as car lifts for the residential and commercial market and high capacity goods lifts to retailers.
Some of Our Projects
25-ton truck hoist: This has been in operation at the National Gallery of Victoria since 1975.
Self-driven Aircraft Tail Dock Scissor Work Platform: This platform has a height of 14.5m.
Research and Development
With our unique blend of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical experience, we are always looking for better ways to do things. We have designed thousands of custom projects over the years, and most recently we were the first to design and install a car lift with an integrated turntable in Australia.
After Sales Service
We are committed to helping you get the most out of your equipment by training your operators in safe operation and daily maintenance of the hoist, and we provide professional preventative maintenance on a regular basis.
We support our products via a National Service Network across both Australia and New Zealand.
